Product Description

In 1979, the Royal Canadian Mint issued the world’s first pure 24k gold bullion coin, the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf. At that point, the only widely available gold bullion coin was the 22k South African Krugerrand. Gold Maple Leaf coins have a fineness of .9999, making them one of the purest gold coins regularly issued in the world. The Royal Canadian Mint’s insistence on using only the finest planchets, or coin blanks, in minting these coins has made the Gold Maple Leaf the standard against which all other 24k gold bullion coins are judged.
The Canadian Gold Maple Leaf is available in the following denominations: $50, which contains one troy ounce of pure gold and measures 30mm in diameter; $20, which contains one half-ounce of pure gold and measures 25mm in diameter; $10, which contains one quarter-ounce of pure gold and measures 20mm in diameter; $5, which contains one tenth-ounce of pure gold and measures 16mm in diameter; and, finally, $1, which contains one twentieth-ounce of pure gold and measures 14mm in diameter. Each of these coins features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain on the obverse and the national symbol of Canada, the maple leaf, on the reverse. Gold Maple Leaf coins are traded around the world and their purity and weight are guaranteed by the Canadian Government.

  1. Not Brilliant Uncirculated
    Jasonon 10/27/13
I received a 1982 CGM. While I find it interesting to own the first year of the 1/10 oz coin, the one I received is by no means "brilliant uncirculated." It has a number of scratches on both sides, especially the obverse. They do not appear to be scratches from storage, but rather from handling. This coin looks like it bounced around someone's junk drawer unprotected for many years.

Otherwise, the coin is nice. The image of the young queen is quite different that the newer coins. This is my first 24k coin, and I'm also amazed at how different the color is from the 22k varieties. It was well packaged and delivered quickly as well.
  2. Fresh coin

  4. Cheapest 1/10 is 9999? Works for me
    Damonon 5/30/13
Get it while you can.... Eagles are pricey, this is like the next best thing
  5. The best store.
    Dowseron 5/28/13
A tenth may look small but as a retired gold miner I can tell you 3.101 grams is a great weekend digging or dredging. The maple showed up still in it's sealed mint plastic and is a addition to the collection. Best store, great customer service. My dad said "Thank you provident" and grind.
    I will be back.
  6. Fantastic coins - competitive pricing
    Brianon 7/24/12
I love these 1/10th ozt Canadian Maples. Typically lower in pricing than other 1/10th gold coins and yet they are of higher purity!
