Product Description

Cross an item off your wish list with these shining 1996 American Silver Eagles, certified by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation with a Mint State 69 grade.

These highly popular coins have been the official silver bullion of the United States since their creation in 1986. Each containing one troy ounce of .999 fine silver, these coins are both incredible examples of high-quality design and desirable investments.

Each coin features Walking Liberty, originally designed by Adolph A. Weinman for the half dollar coins that ended circulation in 1947. On the obverse, Liberty strides across the coin toward the rising sun, bearing oak and laurel branches. The words “LIBERTY” and “IN GOD WE TRUST” are highlighted, and the year is at Liberty’s feet.

The reverse features a triumphant United States heraldic eagle under 13 5-pointed stars, along with the words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “1 OZ. FINE SILVER,” and “ONE DOLLAR.” The eagle clutches an olive branch and arrows in its talons, reminiscent of the Great Seal of the United States.

In addition to the certification, each coin is guaranteed to contain one ounce of .999 fine silver by U.S. law, making this a solid investment.

The American Silver Eagle was created as an attempt by President Ronald Reagan to balance the U.S. budget--a tough task for sure! Though the president made the request to sell the government-owned silver in 1982, it was not until 1986 that the first American Silver Eagle was minted.
