Produced by the United States Mint, this 2006 American Silver Eagle 3-Coin Set commemorates the 20th anniversary of the coin’s 1986 introduction. Each set arrives in its original Mint packaging, complete with a Certificate of Authenticity.
The obverse is an adaptation of Adolph A. Weinman’s 1916 design, originally used on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar. Revived decades later, this popular design can now be seen on the front of every ASE.
The design features Lady Liberty, cloaked in flowing robes. Striding across the obverse, her arms are outstretched toward the sunrise. LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST and the date of mintage are engraved.
The reverse was created by the Mint’s Chief Engraver, John Mercanti. Modeled after the Great Seal of the United States, it features a bald eagle clutching a bundle of arrows and an olive branch in its talons. Thirteen stars are engraved above its head, representing the original Thirteen Colonies. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, along with the coin’s fineness, face value and mint mark are also inscribed.
