In 1988, the Royal Canadian Mint issued the world’s first pure 99.99% pure silver bullion coin, the Canadian Silver Maple Leaf. At that point, the only widely available silver bullion coin was the .999 American Silver Eagle. Silver Maple Leaf coins have a fineness of .9999, making them the purest silver coins regularly issued in the world. The Royal Canadian Mint’s insistence on using only the finest planchets, or coin blanks, in minting these coins has made the Silver Maple Leaf the standard against which all other silver bullion coins are judged.
The Canadian Silver Maple Leaf has a face value of $5 (the highest such value of any one ounce government-issued silver coin), measures 38.0mm in diameter, and consists of one troy ounce of pure silver. Each of these coins features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain on the obverse and the national symbol of Canada, the maple leaf, on the reverse. Silver Maple Leaf coins are traded around the world and their purity and weight are guaranteed by the Canadian Government.

Customer Reviews

  1. Beautiful Solid Investment Review by BrandNewParadigm | January 16, 2012

This was my first silver purchase--and now I'm hooked! The coin is not only beautiful, but it is a rock solid investment. The Canadian Royal Mint is producing these 99.99% pure 1oz. silver coins, the only mint in the world to produce legal tender so pure. The detail of both Queen Elizabeth II and the maple leaf is intricate. Providence Metals not only delivered on time, but they don't have a minimum order amount and they have top rate customer service.

  2. Excellent again! Review by Don | November 24, 2011

My third and biggest transaction with Provident Metals. From the fair mark up to the reasonable shipping, I have not been disappointed. Keep up the good work.

  3. WoW.....VERY SHINY! Review by Dave | August 26, 2011

Bought 10 of these beauty and I was amazed how shiny these coins. I also prefer this over the silver eagle because it says .9999 and $5. Will buy again very soon after i get my extra paycheck. Thanks provident. Highly recommended, no BS.

  4. Stunning coin Review by duanega | August 25, 2011

The Canadian Maple is a magnificent coin. The shaded part of the join is a matted finish and Queen Elizabeth is a cameo of brilliant, highly polished silver. I like that it is .9999
silver and reads a $5.00. First time I ordered from Provident and was pleased with delivery time.

  5. Beautiful coins! Review by Nick | August 24, 2011
