In addition to the stratospheric phenomenon of the Star Wars franchise with millions of devoted fans and an industry of iconic collectibles, these coins will be particularly precious due to their extremely limited release of only 7,500 coins each.
This set honors the Alliance and what a small group of dedicated people with discipline, strength, and unity can accomplish in their pursuit of freedom. Besides, in what galaxy can you flip a coin that features Obi Wan Kanobi on one side and Queen Elizabeth II on the other?
These coins will no doubt garner you serious “geek-cred” (if you actually carried them in your wallet). In addition to being legal tender with a face value of two dollars, they have been struck with style in mind. Etched silver perfectly frames each colorized design in a decidedly futuristic feel. The Millennium Falcon Set features a coin for each central partnerships of the noble Rebel Alliance on the reverse side: 1.) Princess Leia / Luke Skywalker, 2.) Yoda / Obi-Wan Kenobi, 3.) R2-D2 / C-3PO, and 4.) Han Solo / Chewbacca.
The special packaging of this set is equally galactic: The coins will arrive in a replica case of Han Solo’s rebel ship, the Millennium Falcon, that plays the command “jump to light speed.” Each set comes with an individually numbered certificate of authenticity issued by the New Zealand Mint.
The Millennium Falcon set features four central partnerships in the Rebel Alliance. The first coin features Princess Leia and her lost twin brother, Luke Skywalker, who secretly led the struggling Rebellion in their mission to overthrow the Galactic Empire and free the galaxy. The second coin features the ever-faithful droids, R2-D2 and C-3PO who make a capable and essential team in serving the Alliance. Third, the space pirate and rugged smuggler, Han Solo is partnered with his first mate, Chewbacca. They make a formidable team as they navigate the galaxy in Solo’s spaceship, the Millenium Falcon. Finally, the most powerful and wise Jedi Master, Yoda combines his keen insight with the great Obi-Wan Kenobi who was once one of the young Jedi Knights mentored by Yoda.
These eight characters flesh-out the Star Wars story with larger-than-life heroism, romance, comic relief, and betrayal in a timeless tale of the universal pursuit for freedom. The New Zealand Mint has captured the essence of each partnership in spectacular detail, bordered by high-tech etching that frames each heroic duo perfectly. We are confident that these coins will be very popular with collectors and shrewd “earth traders” who recognize the investment value of coins honoring such timeless values and beloved heroes. Therefore, these First Release Millennium Falcon coins sets will move quickly. Get yours now, and may the force be with you! And what would a tale of heroism be without a larger-than-life villain to conquer? Add the Darth Vader four-coin set to your order to complete your collection!
