The 2012 ½ oz American Gold Eagle is now available to our fine bullion customers, and the newest edition of this distinguished coin is sure to be as successful as its predecessors. Its sustained popularity is no accident. The 2012 American Gold Eagle contains 1/2 Troy ounce of 22 karat gold, sometimes referred to as crown gold and has the distinction of being the only gold bullion coin whose content is guaranteed by the United States government for its purity. Because of these factors and its handsome design, the American Gold Eagle has become the most widely traded gold bullion coin in the world since its introduction in 1986, continuing gold’s five-thousand year history of value and desirability. Confirming its confidence in the value of the American Gold Eagle, they were the only gold items of any kind allowed to fund Individual Retirement Accounts (i.e., IRAs) by the United Stated government prior to 1997. Per U.S. law, American Gold Eagles are composed of gold mined solely in the United States with a purity of 91.67% or 22k, the three hundred and fifty year standard for gold bullion coins. Our investors should appreciate the investment flexibility of the American Gold Eagle, available in four denominations: the $50 coin, containing one troy ounce of pure gold and measuring 32.7 mm in diameter; the $25 coin, containing one half troy ounce of pure gold and measuring 27mm in diameter; the $10 coin, containing one quarter troy ounce of pure gold and measuring 22mm in diameter; and, finally, the $5 coin, containing one tenth troy ounce of pure gold and measuring 16.5mm in diameter. Collect all four to complete a set of these fine American coins.

Security, history, beauty: the ½ oz 2012 American Gold Eagle. All denominations of the 2012 American Gold Eagle share the same beautiful design as their predecessors, differing only in their face values and weights. The obverse, or front of the coin, borows its design directly from one of the most beautiful coins in US history: the 1907 Double Eagle. Lady Liberty was designed by the famed sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens and chosen by Theodore Roosevelt to symbolize the emerging power of the United States. Saint-Gaudens depicts a flowing Lady Liberty striding toward the viewer with the sun rising behind her, an olive branch in her left hand and a torch in her right. Emblazoned above her head is the word “Liberty.” The reverse side of the coin was designed by Miley Busiek, chief sculptor for the United States Mint and designed specifically for the American Eagle. A proud eagle with an olive branch in its talons can be seen flying toward his mate and their nest of hatchlings, boding the birth of freedom around the world. “E Pluribus Unum” and “In God We Trust” is appropriately inscribed across the bottom of the coin. As symbolic pieces of numismatic art, these coins capture the spirit of America and its people’s sense of freedom and liberty. Prized by collectors around the world for their artistic value and valued by bullion investors for their find gold content, we know you’ll appreciate the value of the new 2012 American Gold Eagle as much as its predecessors.
