The ¼ oz 2012 Canadian Gold Maple Leaf borrows its world-famous design from its very distinguished predecessors. A beautifully detailed bust of Queen Elizabeth II graces the front of the coin per tradition. She has served as the constitutional monarch of Canada and England for over 60 years which makes hers the second longest reign in England’s monarchy. This certainly ensures her place in history. Collectors should know that the queen was honored with her diamond jubilee birthday celebration in 2012, making the 2012 Canadian Gold Maple Leaf noteworthy for that reason. The front of the coin is also inscribed with the words Elizabeth II across the top and clearly labeled 10 Dollars 2012 across the bottom. The reverse of the 2012 Gold Maple is expertly detailed with Canada’s symbol, the maple leaf. Jacques Viger, the first mayor of Montreal, referred to the mighty maple tree as “the king of the forest,” and in 1834 he spoke in favor its adoption as the nation’s symbol. He believed that the strength and dominance of the maple tree was a fitting tribute to the strength of Canada’s citizens. The naturally artistic maple leaf with its unique, five pointed silhouette was later emblazoned on the coat of arms of several Canadian provinces. In 1965, it became the official Canadian symbol after it was added to the nation’s flag. The maple leaf has continued to grace the Canadian Gold Maple since its first introduction. The reverse is also clearly labeled 9999 on either side of the maple leaf, and the words ¼ OZ OR PUR are inscribed clearly across the bottom. We could not be more pleased to offer this fine investment in gold bullion to you.
