This makes hers the second longest reign in England’s monarchy and ensures her importance in history. Her diamond jubilee birthday was celebrated in 2012 making the 2012 Canadian Gold Maple Leaf noteworthy for that reason. The front of the coin is also inscribed with the words Elizabeth II across the top and clearly labeled 50 Dollars 2012 across the bottom. The reverse of the 2012 Gold Maple is detailed with the iconic maple leaf, the Canadian government symbol recognized around the world.
