This coin contains 10 Troy ounces of 99.99% pure silver, and with a limited release capped at only 500,000 strikes, the 2012 Kookaburra silver coins are sure to be a highly prized investment by collectors the world over. The Australian Perth Mint has struck a new release of the famed Kookaburra silver coin each year since 1990 with a new design of the kookaburra bird annually. The new design, purity, and quality of this coin series keeps collectors around the world anticipating its release every year. Each 2012 Silver Kookaburra coin will arrive in its original Perth Mint capsule in mint condition. Therefore, discerning Investors can rest assured that a purchase of the 2012 Australian Perth Mint Kookaburra is a solid way to diversify any investment portfolio in fine, silver bullion.

The Australian Perth Mint has crafted the 2012 Silver Kookaburra with some of the finest artisans in the world. In the handsome new design of the 2012 Silver Kookaburra edition, the elusive kookaburra can be seen on the obverse or front of the coin surrounded by the leaves of the Eucalyptus branch on which he’s so often perched in the wild. Seldom seen but often heard, the Australian kookaburra has a song that sounds very much like a human laugh. This might explain why the Kookaburra is so often featured in folk songs and poetry as a symbol of happiness. Featuring this much loved Australian bird on the coin series may in part explain why its collectability has risen steadily through the years. Also on the obverse side of the coin is the year of issuance and weight at 10 oz 999 SILVER. The reverse side of the coin bears the image of Queen Elizabeth II every year per tradition. Elizabeth II has served as the constitutional monarch of many nations including Australia and England for over 60 years, giving her the second longest running reign in England’s history. Her image was exquisitely sculpted by famed artist, Ian Rank-Broadley and is beautifully set in proof finish. Collectors may find it interesting to note that 2012 is also the year Elizabeth celebrated her diamond birthday with a Diamond Jubilee celebration held in her honor. We are proud to offer this fine and striking coin to our bullion investors, and we are confident you will enjoy this year’s new design as much as its predecessors.

Customer Reviews

  1. Outstanding Review by Jason | April 20, 2012

Just got 1 ten ounce Kook today with the rest of my order and what a beautiful piece this is! For anyone out there looking to invest in silver this coin is beautiful, and the protective case it comes in is top notch. I'll be looking to buy even more.

  2. Big, Bulky, Beautiful "Coin" Review by Joshua | April 2, 2012

This thing is a monster. Having it come in a nice heavy duty plastic capsule is wonderful, but I had to take it out once to hold onto it, with gloves of course, to feel it. Impressive.

Order shipped 3 business days after receipt of payment, arrived at my house in FL, 2 days later!

  3. It doesn't get better than this! Review by Enrique | March 29, 2012

All I can tell you is I can't go back! You haven't bought silver until you've bought one of these and see it and hold it in your hands. It's an experience to say the least, and it comes in it's own strong plastic case. And major kudos to Provident Metals, this is my eighth order and they have always treated me right. Whether I bought brand new or pre-1965 silver, it's always the best of quality.

Not that I will ever stop buying silver, but if I did, after buying this, I can say I'm fulfilled. This is wealth people, and the fact that it's a limited mintage makes it that more valuable.

Thanks for offering this product Provident!!!

  4. love this coin Review by silverstack | March 29, 2012

I love this coin, it has a nice weight to it and the attention to detail is superb. Looking to gather up all the 10oz perth mint coins after seeing this one with my own eyes!

  5. really nice coin. Review by xfactortype1 | February 12, 2012

I am really impressed with this coin. A great way to own a kookaburra with paying 8.00 per ounce over spot. The Perth mint makes the best coins as well as the Canadian mint. I am going to get the koala as well. Provident was excellent in service. I would use again.

  6. Absolutely Awesome Silver Review by Dave | December 26, 2011

I was totally blown away when I opened the package the day my Kookaburra arrived. (That was the first thing I did when the mail got here.) Its heft, brilliance, clean cut struck me deeply. This is a piece of silver that provides real pride of ownership, and I'm not done showing it off. :) It's a great deal more than just 10 oz of silver; bars are never going to cut it again. Order processing was delayed a few days but mail delivery was swift, so it evened out. The packaging was great and the round arrived without a scratch; it's enclosed in a nice clear capsule that will always surround it. Provident's price was totally reasonable and I'll be a customer again in the future. Maybe i've started a tradition, buying the 10 oz Kookaburra each year. :) Heaven knows, I'm happy as I can be. You need this!
