The 2013 Canadian Silver Polar Bear was the first 1.5 oz silver bullion coin minted by the Royal Canadian Mint. Each Polar Bear at Provident Metals contains 1.5 troy ounces of .9999 fine silver and arrives in brilliant uncirculated condition.
The obverse side of the coin features an image of Queen Elizabeth II, along with the date, 2013, and the face value of “8 Dollars.” Designed by Canadian portrait artist Susanna Blunt, the reverse side of the coin displays the polar bear, a symbol of domination and magnitude within Canada’s northern arctic region.
The polar bear is believed to be one of the few creatures that can survive in the harsh, frigid climate, although it is considered a vulnerable species with less than 20,000 supposed to currently be in the wild. In addition, Canada is home to one of the world’s largest polar bear population.
The image depicted on the coin features the polar bear roaming its frozen, arctic habitat. Engraved are the words “Canada,” “Fine Silver,” “1 ½ OZ” and “Argent Pur,” which means pure silver.
The 2013 Polar Bear is a great addition to any portfolio or collection. They also make perfect gifts for the wildlife enthusiast in your life. Get your Canadian Silver Polar Bear coin today at Provident Metals through our secure online purchasing system. OverallMaybe my favorite design of all the rounds and coins I own. It feels great in my hand. Like others, I wish it came in an air-tite. Will absolutely add more to my stack in the future.

OverallAs with all the Canadian Wildlife Series coins, this one does not disappoint. Beautiful coin with supurb detail and luster. Hopefully someone manufactures a case for it soon since it's much thicker than the 1 oz coin.

OverallGorgeous coin with a mirror like finish. It has some nice heft to it as well. The only complaint I have is the Queen is also bigger on this coin :). Great service from Provident. They packed the RCM tube nicely so there wouldn't be any damage due to the coins moving around during shipment.
- Glad I Moved FastPaulon 7/24/13
OverallThe same great design and finish that I have come to expect from the Canadian Mint. This 1 and a half oz. coin is beautiful and is very thick. a standard airtight doesn't fully close. I will move quick when additional designs become available.
