Hoping to cash in on increased worldwide demands for fine silver bullion coins, the Royal Mint has released its 2013 Silver Britannia, now containing 1 Troy Oz of .999 Fine Silver.
As part of a massive overhaul to the mint’s silver bullion program, this is a considerable departure from the last 25 years. During that time, 1 Oz Silver Britannias were only .958 fine, making it difficult for the Royal Mint to compete in a global market—especially when places like the United States, China, Australia, Austria and Mexico had been producing .999 fine bullion coins for decades.
The reverse of each 2013 1 Oz Silver Britannia features Philip Nathan’s traditional design, the beautiful Britannia—personification of Great Britain itself—donning a Corinthian helmet, a shield and a trident, the wind blowing at her robes. The obverse bears a portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
With a face value of £2, the new 1 Oz Silver Britannia weighs less than its predecessors, because it has not been alloyed with other metals. The silver coins will be minted to order, another departure from years past, when the Britannia was assigned a mintage limit. So get yours today! Order a 2013 1 Oz .999 Fine Silver Britannia using our secure online ordering system and your shipment will arrive in just days.

OverallRead the bad reviews so only ordered 5.. They arrived very quickly and in pristine condition..The scratch problem seems to be resolved..Am ordering the rest of the tube today...

OverallBeautiful coin, arrived in pristine condition with NO scratches..

OverallThe royal mint is having a problem with this coin the are all scratched like mine was however this isn't pm fault its the stupid royal mint's fault
- Cool design, dorky finishdpvwiaon 7/11/13
OverallI was really disappointed at the fully polished finish of this coin. Although clearly well made (mine was scratch free), and with a very classic design, the fully polished finish provides no sense of depth or contrast and in fact makes the Brittania look cheap compared to the classic Eagle or modern Maple.
- Scratched BritanniaHKPDWon 7/3/13
OverallLots of scratches on her face. Wondering why it was shipped in the first place.
- Dull and boringMichaelon 6/6/13
OverallThis is probably one the most artistically dull and boring of coins.
It is .999 silver bullion, though.
- Taking Care of the ProblemRandallon 5/21/13
OverallThanks PM for taking care of my scratched Brits. I know that the coins all cant be MS70 and it seems from other reviews that it may be from the hard plastic mint packaging that are scratching these coins. Although the coins werent "perfect" ,still had some small scratches, but they were a lot better than before. thanks for taking care of my problems. ALOHA
- scratchesRandallon 5/6/13
OverallI ordered 7 of these even after reading the reviews. What a mistake. All 7 had scratches to the obverse and reverse. Pretty much only good for bullion. Wish PM had a better way to check them before they sent them out. Pretty easy to pull apart mint packaging and see if they are scratched. Not worth taking the risk and paying the premium for these coins.
- A Nice Coin for Your CollectionJameson 5/1/13
OverallReceived a couple of Silver Britannias today, they are roughly the same diameter & thickness as American Silver Eagles. Most of them were in pristine condition, but one coin did have 3 small scratches on it--I don't mind at all.
The coins ranged in weight from 1.0045--1.0060 ozt, which is always reassuring.
The figure's clothes look flat and lack the detail & texture that the American Silver Eagle has. The designers should look into creating different effects, like using a matte finish in places, instead of a completely reflective surface.
- Every Last One is ScratchedChestonon 4/27/13
OverallOrdered five and EVERY ONE of them were scratched. Supposed to have come from the mint sealed in plastic, but I'm here to tell you the premium is not worth it. If it came time to resell I'd be lucky to get them out at spot, but likely they'd have to be melted as scrapped. Definitely my LAST TIME buying scuffed up Britannias. Stick to Pandas or Perth Mint with sealed at the mint products!
- One SCRATCHED Is Enough!Paulon 4/24/13
OverallThis is a beautifully designed coin that is sealed in Mint PACKAGING wiith scratches... I love Provident Metals - this is NOT their fault! So many other great silver coins available... I won't make this mistake again.
- Awesome Design!Flavioon 4/23/13
OverallBritannia most favorite coin. This will be added to my personal collection. I wish they made it in 1/20 or 1/10 ounce gold pieces.
- no probIsraelon 4/21/13
OverallI saw these reviews, but still rolled the dice. I ordered 10 britt's and was really happy. None were scratched, and they all came in the plastic sheets. Thanks Provident
- I shouldn't have gambled...SCRATCHED!Roberton 3/24/13
OverallWell even after reading all the reviews I decided to tempt fate and order one of these coins for my collection. All I have to say is I wish I didn't. Even though the coin is gorgeous, the presence of scratches on both sides is a MAJOR let down. Provident, my advice to you on this is if people are ordering these coins for collection purpose it would really be nice if you have someone INSPECT them before you ship them. Every other sillver coin category have off quality options for people who are interested in the bullion factor. I like scratch free coins. I certainly won't order these again.

OverallIt's a beautiful design and a lovely coin. But mine did arrive with multiple scratches, which was disappointing.
- Great piece!Jeremyon 2/25/13
OverallI just got my first Britannia. I saw the reviews about the scratches on some. That's unfortunate. Mine came in the original plastic wrapper from the mint and is free of scratches. Very beautiful coin to add to my collection!
- Nice solid chunk of silverEricon 1/19/13
OverallThis britannia is one of my coolest silver coins.
- Awesome coinLouieon 1/17/13
OverallGreat coin love the fact that it's .999 fine now Provident has great prices will order again keep up the great work guys! Keep stacking
- scratchesnamon 1/14/13
OverallThere are a lot of scratches on this coin because of the minting process, not PM's fault. This coin is badly damaged but the design is beautiful.
- Only good for bullionBrandonon 12/13/12
OverallI received two of these coins today and both are scratched up. I assume that they came from the mint this way and is not provident metals fault.
Some scratches are pretty deep. While I was not expecting a perfect 70 coin these are not even remotely worth grading.
