The 2014 1 oz American Gold Eagle is the official gold bullion investment product of the United States.
American Gold Eagles are eligible to be included in your self-directed IRA, which makes it the perfect way to add gold to your investment strategy.
The American Gold Eagle, produced by the United States Mint, was first introduced in 1986, under the Gold Bullion Act of 1985.
Because it is an official gold bullion coin of the country, each 1 ounce American Gold Eagle is guaranteed for weight, gold content and purity by the U.S. government. The gold has a purity of 91.67% gold, or 22-karat and weighs 1 troy ounce (31.10 grams).
The reverse features the St. Gaudens liberty striding toward the viewer, holding aloft a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. The top of the White House is visible in the bottom left of the design, and oak leaves representing strength are near the bottom right. Stars trace the rim, with LIBERTY written just over the goddess. 2014 is marked to the right.
The obverse features a pair of nesting eagles with their young, the male bird bringing olive branches back to the nest. Each feather is graced with delicate detail. The rim reads UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and 1 OZ. FINE GOLD 50 DOLLARS. This side also includes the phrases E PLURIBUS UNUM and IN GOD WE TRUST.
