Buy United States Special Mint Sets from 1965-1967
US Special Mint Sets from 1965-1967 are available at Provident Metals in the original mint packaging
These Special Mint Sets from Provident Metals make an inexpensive way of collecting U.S. coins. Sets of U.S coins usually come in either ‘Mint Sets’ or ‘Proof Sets’. While Proof Sets include coins that have gone through a special minting process that makes them have a more mirror like finish, they are considerably more expensive than mint sets. US Special mint sets were produced for only 3 years; 1985-7. Each set consists of 5 coins; the penny, nickle, dime, quarter, and half dollar. The main difference between these Special Mint Sets and other mint sets is that no mater which mint they were minted at, they contain no mint marks.
It has been said that was done to reduce the number of coins being ‘hoarded’ or collected. This evidently did not work as mint marks were resumed in 1967. They, like other modern mint sets are made with a core of copper clad with a nickle exterior and are sometimes referred to as copper clad coins or business strike coins, with the exception of the half dollar. The half dollar in these Mint Sets, contains 40% silver, as well as having great historical value, and have themselves attained collector value due special type of mintage. Mint sets available at Provident Metals are sealed in the original mint plastic packages and enclosed in a specially labels mint envelop.
