The coins of Great Britain enjoy a long and storied history, making them an exciting addition to any portfolio. For instance, King Henry VIII first introduced the British Gold Half Sovereign coin in 1544. These coins, along with the British Gold Sovereign coin, were discontinued after 1604. In 1817, after a considerable revision of British coinage, the Great Britain Gold Sovereign coin and Great Britain Gold Half Sovereign coin were revived and minted from 1817 to 1917, in 1925 and then from 1957 onward.
Limited release 2011 and 2012 Silver Britannia coins are also available from Provident Metals in brilliant, uncirculated condition. Per custom, the obverse of the 2011 and 2012 Britannia coins boast the famous bust of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, sculpted and designed by Ian Rank-Broadley and used on British coins for nearly 15 years.
