In response to the popular lunar-themed bullion products that have been on the market for years, KOMSCO has created the Zi:Sin Series. This series looks at the traditional lunar calendar in a new light. In this series, the 12 Guardians of Korean lore who are known for helping God defeat forces of evil are depicted on gold coins. Today, you can purchase the 1/2 oz Gold 2019 South Korean Zi:Sin Scrofa Medal from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Each 1/2 oz Gold 2019 South Korean Zi:Sin Scrofa Medal is available today in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. With such low mintage numbers, these medals are valuable, so we ship them in protective plastic flips to preventing scratching and other damage.
Obverse
On the obverse of each of these medals, you will see the image of Do ggae bi on Chiwoo Cheonwangs shield. Chiwoo used this image on his shield to put fear into his enemies. Do ggae bi has been considered a protection against evil spirits for centuries, and Koreans even use his image to ward off evil spirits in their homes.
Reverse
Scrofas image can be found on the reverse side of all 1/2 oz Gold 2019 South Korean Zi:Sin Scrofa Medals. In the image, Scrofa is seen standing along the banks of the Salt Lake. She has her sword drawn at her side as she looks around for any signs of danger. She also has the power to see danger coming from a great distance away.
Scrofa is the third of the 12 Guardians to be featured in this medal series. She is associated with the Year of the Pig in the Chinese lunar calendar. Her role is to guard the Salt Lake, which the mortal and immortal worlds connect. She protects against the invasion of evil from the immortal world.
History
KOMSCO is the official mint of the Republic of Korea. Recently, the mint has expanded its coin offerings to include the Chiwoo Cheonwang Series, the Korean Tiger medals, and these Zi:Sin medals.
