For example, the 2018 design captured a tiger stalking its prey silently as it walks along the right side of the design field opposite of some bamboo stalks on the left side of the design field. In 2019, the design was changed to feature a tiger on the attack. In that design, a tigers claws rip through the design field as its snarling face is featured in the background.
Reverse
On the reverse face of all 1/2 oz Gold South Korean Tiger Medals is a depiction of the Korean peninsula. Rather than a geographic design or a map of the political boundaries of the peninsula, here you see the letters of the Hangul, the Korean alphabet, used to shape the artistic image of the Korean peninsula. History
Though this series is named for the Korean tiger, no species of that name ever actually existed. The Korean tiger is, in reality, the colloquial name in the Koreas for the Siberian tiger that once existed here in the wild. The last Siberian tiger living in the wild on the Korean peninsula was killed by hunters in the 1920s.
