Austria is proud of its rich musical history, which is represented by the Gold Philharmonic. The obverse features the Great Organ that is found within the Golden Hall, one of Austria’s most famous concert halls. It carries inscriptions of “REPUBLIK OSTERREICH” and “1/4 UNZE GOLD 999.9,” along with the year of issue and denomination.
On the reverse, you’ll find an array of musical instruments carved in great detail. This includes a french horn, bassoon, harp, cello, and four violins. The inscription reads “WIENER PHILHARMONIKER.”
Along with new bullion products, Provident sources some precious metals from the secondary market. This allows us to offer you quality bullion at competitive prices. Buying this product guarantees you’ll receive a one ounce Austrian Gold Philharmonic coin, with a randomized year of issue as determined by our current inventory. Orders of multiples may or may not include a variety of dates.
Gold Philharmonics may ship in plastic flips or tubes, depending on inventory.

"
Almost all popular gold coins on the market display in one or another form symbols of national ideology (the queen as a symbold of monarchy. the liberty, the eagle as symbols of official state ideology etc). The philharmonic coin is one remarkable exception to that rule. Both sides of the coin lack any political or ideological symbol. Instead, both sides of the coin display cultural symbols, in this case, musical instruments. The subtle message is that cultural symbols are perhaps of greater importance than symbols of state power for a small state like Austria. Indeed, Austria has contributed over the centuries a lot to music with great composers like Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and many others. Perhaps Austria is more proud of that tradition than of its history as monarchy and empire."

"
I recently purchased my first 1/4 oz Phil From provident and as always I am left satisfied. The coin came in great condition. It was packaged well protected from the six Silver Maples it was shipped with. This Phil seems to be consistently the the best value in modern fractional bullion coins. Again I'm super happy I decided to get this coin."
