Obverse

Unlike most coin designs that are raised, this artwork is struck using an incuse method, meaning the image is recessed into the surface. The word LIBERTY appears above the portrait, while thirteen stars are positioned around the design to represent the original colonies.

Reverse

On the reverse of the 1/4 oz Silver Incuse Indian Round is a matching incuse depiction of an American bald eagle. The eagle stands proudly with its wings folded, facing left in a calm stance. Beneath the eagle is a bundle of arrows alongside an olive branch, representing the balance between military strength and peaceful intentions. The inscriptions IN GOD WE TRUST and E PLURIBUS UNUM are included on either side of the eagle, adding to the traditional theme of the round.

History

When the Incuse Indian design was first introduced, it caused some debate among collectors and the public.
