The S.S. Tilawa was a passenger ship that tragically sank during World War II. Along with the loss of lives, the ship also took more than 2,000 silver bars to the bottom of the Indian Ocean. In 2017, a deep-sea salvage operation recovered these bars, and the silver has been refined into beautiful collectible rounds. Provident Metals now offers the 1/4 oz Silver S.S. Tilawa Round for collectors.

Each 1/4 oz Silver S.S. Tilawa Round is made using the recovered silver and is packaged in a protective plastic flip, a tube of 20, or a box of 800. This makes for a unique opportunity to own silver that has a story tied to an important historical event.
Obverse
On the obverse, the S.S. Tilawa Silver Round presents an aerial view of the S.S. Tilawa as it sailed through the Indian Ocean. A nautical chart in the background traces the ships final route in 1942, as it traveled from Bombay (now Mumbai) to Durban, South Africa. Inscriptions include BOMBAY TO DURBAN and 1/4 OZ .999 FINE SILVER.
Reverse
The reverse side of the 1/4 oz Silver Tilawa Round features a depiction of the ship in the Indian Ocean, showing the vessel as it appeared during its final days before sinking in 1942. The inscriptions include SS TILAWA.
History
The silver from the S.S. Tilawa, weighing over 60 tons, was retrieved in 2017 after lying at the bottom of the ocean for decades. This successful recovery has sparked new interest in the history of the ship and the valuable cargo it carried. Collectors can now own a piece of this history through these special silver rounds.

When the subtotal of your purchase, including applicable discounts, is $199 or more, you receive free shipping for your entire order. In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. All products are discreetly packaged and shipped with full insurance included.
Most Provident orders are shipped within one (1) business day of your payment clearing. Payments made via PayPal clear instantly. Bitcoin payments clear instantly once the transaction is confirmed. Credit Card and bank wire payments process within 1 business day. ACH and paper check payments take 3-5 business days. Once payments are processed, products are released to fulfillment for packaging and shipping.
All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.
For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.
Provident is only able to ship to addresses in any of the 50 US states. This includes P.O. boxes and APO addresses.
