Designs

The obverse face of the 1 Gram Gold Coins available in this product listing features various images depending upon the collection in which the coin was issued. As examples to consider, the Canadian Maple Leaf 1 Gram Gold coin features a bust of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse field that shows the monarch in right-profile relief. It was designed in 2003 by Susanna Blunt. The obverse of Chinese Panda 1 Gram Gold coins includes the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests, a design in use on the coins since 1983.

For the reverse field of 1 Gram Gold Coins in this listing, consider the reverse designs found on the aforementioned coins. Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Coins feature the sugar maple leaf image developed in 1979 by Walter Ott. The reverse field of the Chinese Panda Gold Coin includes a depiction of the Giant Panda species that changes each year.

History

1 Gram Gold Coins are available in these two major programs as relatively recent introductions. The Royal Canadian Mint introduced the Canadian Maple Leaf 1 Gram Gold Coin in 2014. The Chinese Mint introduced its Chinese Panda 1 Gram Gold Coin in 2016 when it transitioned the series from Troy oz to Grams.
