Since 1969, the Federal Reserve and United States government have issued only seven different denominations of American currency into circulation: $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100. Prior to 1969 though, larger denominations were issued by the United States that included a whopping $500 US note. Provident Metals offers a recreation of that design on the 1 oz Copper $500 Banknote Bar.

Highlights:

  • Arrives with a protective case, tube cases of 20, or boxes of 500 bars!
  • Replicates the 1928 issue of $500 Federal Reserve notes!
  • Contains 1 AVDP oz of .999 pure copper.
  • On the obverse side is President William McKinley.
  • The reverse includes the denomination.

When you purchase the 1 oz Copper $500 Banknote Bars in this product listing, you receive your items individually with a protective case. For multiples, these copper bars ship in tube cases of 20 bars or boxes that contain 500 bars in total. Each of the individual bars in this listing comes in brand-new condition.

Obverse

On the obverse of the 1 oz Copper $500 Banknote Bar is the portrait of President William McKinley. The 25th President of the United States, McKinley was the final US President to serve in office who had served in the US Civil War. He entered the Union Army at the start of the war as an enlisted private and rose to the rank of brevet major by the wars end. McKinley led the nation to victory in the Spanish-American War in 1898 and was assassinated in office just six months into his second term as President of the United States.

Reverse

The reverse face of the 1 oz Copper $500 Banknote Bar includes the denomination of the Federal Reserve note in the center with ornate border designs. The denomination of the note is featured a total of seven times on this side with all markings in Arabic numerals of 500. You can see the denomination in the center, each of the four corners, and in the horizontal center of the top and bottom edges of the design field.

History

Prior to 1969, paper currency was available in various denominations no longer available today and in several forms. For example, between the end of the Civil War and the 1960s, United States Notes, National Bank Notes, silver certificates, and early Federal Reserve notes were issued. The design reflected in this 1 oz Copper $500 Banknote Bar comes from the 1928 release of a Federal Reserve $500 banknote. This note was in circulation until 1934.
