John Browning designed the .45 ACP cartridge in 1904 for his Colt semi-auto .45 pistol and M1911 pistol that was adopted by the U.S. Army in 1911. Browning also created various civilian and military guns, gun mechanisms and cartridges as an American firearms designer. Many are still active today.
The U.S. Army and Cavalry determined in the late 19th century and early 20th that their current ammunition wasn’t effective enough against the opposition. The Thompson-LaGarde Tests, a series conducted in 1904 to choose which caliber to use in military handguns, concluded that the .45 passed the extensive tests for its combination of accuracy and power.

I ordered a handful of these cool copper bullets as a unique item to add to my metals collection. However, I found them to be awesome as a unique novelty item gift as my of those close to me know my favorite firearm is of a .45acp caliber. So, I gave a few of these out for the Independence holiday. For the record, they do fit a .45acp magazine!
I hope Provident Metals creates more 2nd amendment/firearm influenced items in copper, silver, and gold. In the end, an ounce of metal is an ounce of metal… These bullets just make it more fun, interesting, and unique while collecting.
