History
On June 25th, 2019, Illinois governor J.B. Pritzker signed a bill into law that legalized the recreational use of cannabis in the state. While it was the 11th state to legalize cannabis at the time, it was the first to do so through an act of the state legislature. In addition, the state is eliminating hundreds of thousands of cannabis-related convictions. This process is expected to be completed by 2025.
