History

In November 2016, 50.26% of Maine voters answered Yes on the question of recreational cannabis use legalization. This highly slim victory led to the removal of the states recreational cannabis restrictions, effective January 30, 2017. And as of October 9, 2020, licensed selling of cannabis in Maine is also legal. Currently, residents of Maine can possess 2.5 ounces of cannabis at a time. It is also legal to cultivate 3 mature or 12 immature plants in the state of Maine.
