History

The state of Vermont made the recreational use of cannabis legal back in 2018 following the passage of H. 511. Prior to that, Vermont had allowed the legal use of medicinal cannabis since 2004 when S 76 was passed by the state legislature. Currently, adults 21 and over can legally purchase up to 1 oz of two mature plants, or four immature plants. The recreational sale of cannabis was later authorized in 2020 under Vermont S. 54.
