39mm Coin Holder Direct Fit | Air-Tite
$0.99

The first President of the United States of America to feature on an American coin was Abraham Lincoln. His bust first appeared on the US penny in 1909 in a design from Victor David Brenner, making him the first former president to appear on American currency. Right now, you can buy 1 oz Copper Lincoln Head Rounds online at Provident Metals.

Highlights:

  • Arrives with individual flips, tubes of 10 to 20 rounds, or boxes of 500 rounds!
  • Based on the original 1909 design from Brennan!
  • Contains 1 AVDP oz of .999 pure copper.
  • On the obverse is President Lincoln in right-profile relief.
  • The reverse includes a common wing-and-shield design.
  • Minted in the United States of America.

With your purchase of these 1 oz Copper Lincoln Head Rounds, Provident Metals offers copper rounds in brand-new condition that are housed individually inside of protective plastic flips. When you purchase multiples of this round you will receive those items inside of mint tubes containing 10 to 20 rounds or you can purchase a box of 500 rounds. The box will contain 25 tubes of rounds.

Obverse

On the obverse side of 1 oz Copper Lincoln Head Rounds is a right-profile bust of President Abraham Lincoln. The United States has a history, and legislative precedent, of not producing images of sitting or living presidents on American denominations. In 1909, Abraham Lincoln became the first former president to appear on a coin when his effigy was elevated to the copper penny.

Reverse

The reverse face of the 1 oz Copper Lincoln Head Round includes a common design element from this private mint. The design includes a set of eagles wings spread to the left and right with a version of the US shield at the center. The shield has three stars on it and there is an American flag blowing in the breeze above the shield design. Below it are the initials of USA in the design field.

History

The Lincoln Penny is the oldest singular design in American coining history that is still in use. The Victor David Brennan design that inspired this copper round design has remained ever-present on the obverse of the US Penny since 1909, but the reverse face has changed a few times in American history. Originally, the coin used a wheat stalk reverse that resulted in the coin becoming known as the Wheat Penny. The modern design was adopted until much later in American history, but the design of these copper rounds reflects the original design with wheat stalks flanking the bust of Lincoln on the obverse.
