History

The Great Eagle is the perfect design to conclude this series. The dragon Nidhogger is the Great Eagles arch-enemy and a hopeful destroyer of The World Tree. Nidhogger featured first in the series, with The World Tree depicted on the reverse of all issues in the collection. With the Great Eagle at the end of the series, the designs are tied together as a perfect conclusion. One fun fact about the design is the inclusion of the squirrel, Ratatosk, in the reverse design. This squirrel regularly scampers up and down the trunk of the tree from the Great Eagle to Nidhogger delivering barbs between the two to keep their hatred for one another burning.
