Obverse

Garm the Hellhound is chained up in the obverse design of Copper Nordic Creatures Hellhound Rounds. This design shows the monstrous wolf-like creature as it is chained to unseen points outside the design element. The Hellhound guards a gate in this design, with Norse mythology suggesting that this is the gate to Hels mansion. Hel is the Goddess of Death.

Reverse

The World Tree is depicted in the reverse field of 1 oz Copper Nordic Creatures Hellhound Rounds. Known as Yggdrasil, The World Tree connects the nine Norse worlds and its massive roots grow out in three different directions. These directions cover the realm of Hel and Niflheim, the land of the frost giants, and the realm of humans. The design element includes a buck, snake, and raven at The World Tree.

History

Garm, as the Hellhound is known, is chained to the gates that surround the mansion of Hel, the Goddess of Death and ruler of the underworld. The bloodstained beast is the one who signals the coming of Ragnarok. When this occurs, his chains will break and he will be free to run.
