Obverse

On the obverse of 1 oz Copper Nordic Creatures Odins Steed Sleipner Rounds is an image of the powerful god Odin riding through the sky on Sleipner. The famous eight-legged animal is the swiftest animal in the world, able to traverse land, sea, and sky with ease. Odin rides with his spear Gungnir in one hand and a shield in the other that is emblazoned with the artistic depiction of a raven. Riding with his winged helmet on, Odin is flanked on either side by his ravens, Hugin and Munin.

Reverse

The reverse side of Copper Nordic Creatures Odins Steed Sleipner Rounds features a depiction of The World Tree. In this image, The World Tree has a buck standing near its trunk, a snake slithering on the ground near its base, and a raven in the branches. The World Tree is the holiest place in Norse mythology. Not only is it the daily gathering point for the Norse gods, it also boasts branches that reach up to the heavens and roots that cover the major realms of the world.

History

Sleipner is claimed by Odin is Norse mythology as his steed. The eight-legged horse is the most prized steed among gods and men. Using him as a war horse, Odin would ride him over the battles of mankind and rode him through all nine Norse worlds.
