Obverse
Do ggae bi is depicted on the obverse side of 1 oz Gold 2019 South Korean Zi:Sin Scrofa Ghost Medals. Do ggae bi is similar to the hobgoblin of Western cultures with a grotesque appearance. His grotesque figure is said to give him the power to ward off evil. Chiwoo Cheonwang is believed to have used his image on his battle shield, while everyday Koreans would use his image to ward off evil from their homes.
Reverse
Scrofa features in the third design on the reverse of 1 oz Gold 2019 South Korean Zi:Sin Scrofa Ghost Medals. This was the second design issued in the Scrofa release. Her powers are said to include the ability to confuse her enemies in battle by duplicating her figure. In this design, you can see Scrofa with her ghostly apparition standing behind her.
History
The Zi:Sin Series is KOMSCOs answer to other lunar-themed programs from mints around the globe. The Scrofa release features two distinctive designs, with these Scrofa Ghost designs reflecting one of her special powers. The Scrofa release comes in the 2019 Year of the Pig. The scientific name for the wild boar, a species of pig, is Sus scrofa.
