Ohio Precious Metals made a name for itself producing gold bullion at its private mint location in Jackson, Ohio. Founded in 1974, it operated independently until 2012 producing gold bullion bars in varying weights.
Obverse
For the obverse design, 1 oz Gold Bars from OPM come with the mint name and logo at the top. All of the inscriptions are featured in descending order down the vertical face of the bar. These include the primary oval logo above the words OPM Metals. Below that, you will find the inscriptions of 1 Troy Ounce .9999 Fine Gold. These bars have individual serial numbers assigned by OPM that use a 10-digit coding system that starts with a letter, features eight numbers, and concludes with a letter.
Reverse
The reverse of 1 oz Gold Bars from OPM includes a singular design. On this side, you will only find the swirling oval of Ohio Precious Metals. This mint symbol repeats on a 45-degree angle across the entirety of the reverse design field of the bar.
History
Ohio Precious Metals merged with Dallas-based NTR Metals in 2012 to form Elemetal Refining. The new company continued refining gold and silver at the Jackson, Ohio, refining plant for several years. However, you will not find any newly-produced bars under the Ohio Precious Metals brand name.
