The Perth Mint is one of the worlds most respected precious metals refiners. Its gold and silver coin programs are among the most popular with investors and collectors, but the mint also offers a range of investment-focused silver and gold bars as well. These include both traditional cast gold bars and modern minted ingots. Provident Metals currently has 1 oz Gold Cast Bars available to you for purchase online.
When you purchase a 1 oz Gold Cast Bar from Perth Mint in this Provident Metals listing, you will receive a gold bar that is in secondary market condition. Individual bars are shipped in individual plastic flips, while multiples come in sealed sheets with a total of 78 gold bars per sheet. These cast gold bars are produced by first melting down gold to its liquid form and pouring it into prefabricated molds that give it the final shape. The Perth Mint then stamps identifying markers and a mint logo onto the fields of the bar. All markings are incuse, meaning the images are sunk into the surface of the bar.
On the obverse of the 1 oz Gold Cast Bar is a depiction of the Perth Mint logo. The Perth Mint uses a stylized swan as the image for its logo. The swan is set in a circle with its long, elegant neck taking on the shape of an S from the body to the tip of its beak. It has long tail feathers and wings that swoop around its figure. The inscriptions around the design include The Perth Mint and Australia.
The reverse face of 1 oz Gold Cast Bars comes with simple markings that identify the bar. These simple text markings include the weight, purity, and metal content as “1 oz 9999 Fine.” Below this, you will find the unique serial number assigned to the bar between 1 and 15,000. All serial number codes consist of seven number spaces, meaning you will find at least “00” before even the highest serial numbers in the production run.
The Perth Mint was founded in 1899 and was intended to serve as the third branch facility of the Royal Mint of England on the Australian continent. Following federation in 1901 to form a Commonwealth of Australia, the existing Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth Mint locations continued to strike British Pounds for use in Australia. Today, only the Perth Mint remains operational. It is the oldest operating mint in Australia, is owned by the state of Western Australia, and is separate of the newer federal mint, the Royal Australian Mint.
