Chiwoos shield is shown on the obverse. This battle shield was used by Chiwoo in the wars he participated in. On the shield, you will see the face of Do ggae bi, a creature whose image was said to be so fearsome that Koreas hung it from the roof tiles on their homes to scare away evil spirits.

Reverse

On the reverse face of each coin is the image of Chiwoo Cheonwang on horseback as he rides into battle. He rides his warhorse while wearing his armor. In one hand, he holds his battle spear. In the other, he holds his famous shield.

History
