The Zi:Sin Series is KOMSCOs answer to lunar-themed collections from other mints around the globe. Rather than using one of the 12 animals from the Chinese lunar calendar in the designs, KOMSCO revived the 12 Guardians from ancient Korean culture. Each of the guardians has a specific power that aids in the fight against evil in this world, with designs of the figures offering nods to the animals of the Zodiac.

Obverse

The obverse depiction on the 1 oz Silver 2018 South Korean Chiwoo Cheonwang Gallus Privy Medals includes the face of Do ggae bi on the shield of Chiwoo Cheonwang. The shield is set in the center above a latent security feature along the bottom rocker of the medal. Inscriptions read Republic of Korea, 1 Clay, KOMSCO, and 2018 Fine Silver 999.

Reverse

On the reverse face of the 1 oz Silver South Korean Chiwoo Cheonwang Gallus Privy Medal is a depiction of the God of War. Chiwoo is shown here on horseback as he rides into battle. He is leveling his sword to cut down his enemies and you can see the aggression in his face. In the lower-right field is a Gallus privy mark representing the 1^st figure from the Zi:Sin Series. Inscriptions include only Chiwoo Cheonwang.

History

The Chiwoo Cheonwang Series from KOMSCO debuted in 2016 alongside the Korean Tiger Series. After one year, the Zi:Sin Series was also released, growing the number of annual bullion collections from the mint.
