Nutcrackers are common to find on display during the holiday season. What was originally designed with a specific function in mind has evolved to become a gift or even dcor item to feature during the holiday season. Originating in Germany in the late-17th century, decorative nutcrackers became popular in the United States following World War II. Provident Metals is happy to offer the new 1 oz Silver 2020 Colorized Nutcracker Rounds to you for purchase online.
When you purchase a 1 oz Silver 2020 Colorized Nutcracker Round online from Provident Metals, you receive a silver bullion piece with beautiful presentation packaging from Sunshine Minting. The rounds are housed inside of protective plastic capsules with a loop at the top that accommodates ribbon, string, or a hook for displaying the round on Christmas trees during the holiday season. Each one is in brand-new condition with beautiful, colorized design elements.
A ballerina and a nutcracker are featured together in the obverse design element of the 1 oz Silver 2020 Colorized Nutcracker Round. The nutcracker on the right is a traditional design, with soldiers having long been the focal point of nutcrackers. Accompanying the soldier nutcracker on the obverse is a ballerina. This field of the round has full colorization with red, white, blue, and highlights of gold on the nutcracker figures. The background is a bright blue with white snowflakes falling down in the background. The design rim on this side is a brilliant red. The only inscription on this field is 2020.
The reverse side of the 1 oz Silver 2020 Colorized Nutcracker Round includes its pure, clean silver finish. The round has a red colorized rim, but the central field remains a brilliant silver with inscriptions of One Ounce and .999 Fine Silver.
Nutcrackers became popular in America through two means. One of those was World War II. Returning American GIs had been exposed to nutcrackers while serving in Europe, particularly in Germany. Many US soldiers came home with German nutcrackers as souvenirs following the war. Afterward, the spread of Pyotr Illyich Tchaikovskys ballet, The Nutcracker, spread the popularity of the figures after the ballet became increasingly popular in America in the mid-20th century.
