Yuri Gagarin features on the obverse side of Silver 2021 Germania Interkosmos Gagarin Rounds. The Cosmonaut is shown in front-facing relief wearing his full spacesuit. Planet Earth is shown in the background with the Vostok 1 rocket and the depth of space also included in the design element. Inscriptions on this face of the round, as well as the reverse, are in Cyrillic.

The State Emblem of the Soviet Union is found on the reverse side of the 1 oz Silver Germania Interkosmos Gagarin Round. The design shows the hammer and sickle at the center with a wreath framing the infamous logo of the Soviet Union.

Yuri Gagarins trip into space lasted just one day and included one revolution around the planet. Upon his return, he became a national hero in the Soviet Union. He was given countless awards and military medals. He was elected to both the lower and upper levels of the Soviet Unions Soviet Supreme. He was set as a backup to the Soyuz 1 crew in 1967, but its fatal crash that killed his friend Vladimir Komarov resulted in the Soviet government benching Gagarin from any future spaceflights. The government and the Soviet space program didnt want to risk a black eye in losing a national hero in another failed space mission.
