The Texas Revolution took place between October 1835 and April 1836. The revolution was part of a broader Mexican Federalist War taking place throughout Mexican territory at the time. The Mexican Federalist War was a popular armed resistance among several provinces of Mexico against the centrist control of Mexicos government under President Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna. Only one of those provinces would succeed in its armed revolt though: Texas.

Obverse

The outline of the Great State of Texas features as the prominent design in the obverse of 1 oz Silver 2021 Rounds in this series. The long-standing obverse design, the background is dominated by the outline of Texas, from its panhandle in the north to its Rio Grande border with modern-day Mexico in the south. The Lone Star of Texas features over the image of the state outline, with inscriptions of Texas, 2021, and Precious Metals featured on this side.

Reverse

Texians battle face-to-face with Mexican Army soldiers scaling the walls of the Alamo in the reverse design of 1 oz Silver 2021 Rounds. The design element shows Texians, led by Davy Crockett, fending off Mexican soldiers in hand-to-hand combat at the walls of the Alamo. The inscriptions include .9999 Silver, One Troy Oz, and Battle of the Alamo 1836.

History

The Texas Revolution began at the Battle of Gonzales when Texian colonists refused to return a canon to the Mexican Army that had been given to them by Mexico to help defend themselves against regional indigenous tribes. At the Battle of Gonzales, captured in the first design of the new Revolution Series in 2020, the Texians scored a shock victory against the Mexican Army after taunting Mexican forces to come and take it. The Mexican Army got its revenge at the Alamo, defeating the vastly outnumbered Texians, but it would prove fatal to Mexicos hopes of maintaining Texas. The rallying cry “Remember the Alamo! helped enlist more Texians and also American immigrants to Texas to help defeat the Mexican Army at the Battle of San Jacinto a month later, granting Texas its eventual freedom.
