The reverse side of 1 oz Silver 2021 Taekwondo Medals shows a Taekwondo fighter in action. This Martial Artist appears quite impressive as he destroys a stack of wood with a single fist. Youll find inscriptions on this side also that read TAEKWONDO, 1 OZ FINE SILVER .999.
History
The name Taekwondo roughly means the Way of the Fist and Foot. Tae translates to Foot, Kwon to Hand, and Do to Way. General Choi Hong Hi is known as the sports Father thanks to his efforts developing the practice in the mid 1900s. He also founded the International Taekwondo Federation, which helped bring this Martial Art to a wider global audience. Today, Taekwondo is recognized as the national sport of South Korea and was the first Korean Martial Art to appear in the Olympic Games.
