Highlights:
The current American Liberty Series is rooted in a 2015 release from the United States Mint. This series featured one of the first modern takes on Lady Liberty with a front-facing vision of Liberty holding a torch in one hand, wearing a laurel wreath crown, and holding a flagpole with the Stars and Stripes in the other. In 2017, this series gained renewed traction with groundbreaking new images of Liberty.
Obverse
On the obverse of 1 oz Silver 2022 American Liberty Medals, you will find a depiction of a wild bronco. This horse captures the concept of liberty in its determination to shake off the control of another in favor of controlling its own destiny. This design debuted in 2021 on gold bullion coins and now features on these 2022 silver medals. Inscriptions on this side include LIBERTY and 2022.
Reverse
The reverse side of the Silver 2022 Proof American Liberty Medal comes with an image of the American bald eagle. This right-profile relief of the eagle shows the bird with great detail in its plumage, a fixed gaze in its eye, and its powerful beak slightly open. Inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the P mint mark of the Philadelphia Mint.
History
In 2017, the American Liberty Series offered a new design meant to reflect the principles of liberty by showcasing the female allegorical figure from different ethnic backgrounds, thus better reflecting the diversity of America. This design moves away from allegorical female figures completely in its effort to showcase liberty and freedom as sought by all manner of life.
