These 2023 Morte Prima di Disonore 1 oz Rounds were struck in .999 pure silver and will be delivered in new condition. Produced by Intaglio Mint, these rounds mark the first time that a date has been included in the design. Upon delivery, you will find your round housed in a protective flip. But keep in mind, if you purchase multiples of 20, they will arrive in plastic tubes.
Obverse
A skull wearing a Roman military helmet is depicted on the obverse of 2023 Morte Prima di Disonore Silver Rounds. The skull is shown in left-profile relief as a sword pierces through the helmet and emerges from its mouth. This haunting image is symbolic of death before dishonor. The obverse also contains decorative crosses and skulls along with an inscription reading MORTE PRIMA DI DISONORE.
Reverse
The brand logo of Intaglio Mint appears on the reverse face of Morte Prima di Disonore 1 oz Silver Rounds. Appearing as a Roman column in the form of the letter I, this logo also bears the inscriptions INTAGLIO MINT, EST. 2010. The design is set against a stylized backdrop and includes a beaded pattern around it. Along the edge of the round, additional inscriptions read 2023, ONE TROY OUNCE, .999 FINE SILVER.
History
In ancient Rome, it is believed that the controversial politician Catiline invoked the notion of Morte Prima di Disonore in his attempt to overthrow the Roman republic. The idea behind this phrase is that it is better to die worthily than to live dishonorably. Since then, this belief has been used by numerous warriors and soldiers, ranging from the Samurai to the Marine Corps of today.
