Design
The Silver 2025 Beasts Gullinbursti Round presents a complete visual story with its obverse and reverse designs. The obverse shows Gullinburstis head and upper body in left-profile relief, while the reverse displays the lower half and tail. His golden bristles are the highlight, said to glow with such intensity that they could light up the night. Gullinbursti’s strong and powerful frame made him an impressive sight, blending strength with a magical charm. Inscriptions on the obverse read GULLINBURSTI and 1 OZ AG 9999, while inscriptions on the reverse include GERMANIA, 2025, and 5 MARK.
History
According to Norse mythology, Gullinbursti was a magical boar created by the dwarves Brokkr and Sindri as a gift for the god Freyr. His story is detailed in the Prose Edda within the Skldskaparml section, where he is described as a creature that could run across land, sea, and air, all while radiating a brilliant golden light to illuminate even the darkest paths.
