The American Legacy Collection focuses on four of the most significant American coin designs put into circulation in a nearly 150-year period stretching from the 1878 introduction of the Morgan Silver Dollar to the 1964 release of the Kennedy Half Dollar. These four designs are available on 1 oz silver rounds with proof, antique, and colorized proof issues in each design.

Obverse

For the obverse side of 1 oz Silver Antique Domed American Legacy Buffalo Nickel Rounds, you will find the historic image of the solemn indigenous tribal figure. This right-profile relief includes the word Liberty and a date mark. This isnt your average rework of the Buffalo Nickel though. These domed silver rounds deliver 10 times the depth of detail in the relief with individual braids of the tribal figures hair distinguishable at the touch.

Reverse

On the reverse, 1 oz Silver Antique Domed American Legacy Buffalo Nickel Rounds come with the flip-flop image from the obverse side. Here, you can see the same indigenous figure in left-profile relief on the sunken side of the silver round. Inscriptions of 1 oz .999 Fine Silver are found on this side along with the OM mint mark of the Osborne Mint.

History

The Buffalo Nickel design was completed in 1913 by James Earle Fraser and put into production on the nickel in that same year. Coining continued until 1938 when the design was suspended. The Osborne Mint is the producer of this series. With a continuous operation that dates to 1835, the Osborne Mint is the oldest private mint in the United States.

Ordering

When you purchase the 1 oz Silver Antique Domed American Legacy Buffalo Round, each product comes in a custom-fitted protective plastic capsule. The rounds have individual serial numbers on the edges and matching numbers on the Certificate of Authenticity. The antique version in the series has a brushed, matte finish similar to a coin that was in circulation for decades.
