Connecticut, fondly known as the Constitution State, is a cornerstone of New England, located in the northeastern United States. As one of the original 13 colonies, Connecticut played an instrumental role in crafting the U.S. Constitution. The state is renowned for its picturesque coastal regions along Long Island Sound, charming New England villages, and dynamic urban areas. Provident Metals now offers the 1 oz Silver Colorized Connecticut State Flag Bar.
Highlights:
Each 1 oz Silver Colorized Connecticut State Flag Bar comes securely packaged in an individual protective capsule. This bar is part of the Scottsdale Flag Bar Series, known for its unique colorized reverse designs. The series consists of 54 bars, covering all 50 U.S. states, along with the flags of the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada.
Obverse
The obverse side of the Silver Colorized Connecticut State Flag Bar displays the Scottsdale Lion. This crowned lion, set in a front-facing relief, serves as the mints emblem and occupies the right side of the bar. The mint name appears on the left side of the field, with the bars weight, metal content, and purity inscribed at the top.
Reverse
On the reverse, the 1 oz Silver Colorized Connecticut State Flag Bar presents the Connecticut state flag. The three grapevines on the shield are a distinctive element of the flag. These vines symbolize the three original settlementsHartford, Windsor, and Wethersfieldthat merged to form Connecticut. Additionally, some historians believe the grapevines may represent the early European settlers who brought grapevine cuttings with them or the Native Americans who shared their agricultural knowledge.
History
While the current flag design dates from 1897, its elements have a much longer history. The shield with the grapevines has been used as a symbol of Connecticut since colonial times, appearing on the seal of Saybrook Colony as early as 1639. This long-standing symbolism reflects Connecticut’s deep historical roots and its continuity as a political entity from colonial times to the present.
