The tradition of decorating Christmas trees began in 16th-century Germany, where Christians would bring trees into their homes and light them with candles. These candles symbolized Christ as the light of the world, but they posed a serious fire risk. It wasnt until the late 1800s that safer alternatives to candles were developed. Right now, 1 oz Silver Colorized Lighting the Tree Bars are available at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Each 1 oz Silver Colorized Lighting the Tree Bar is housed in a unique ornament capsule. These capsules include an ornament loop, making it easy to hang your silver bar on your tree or display it around your home. It’s a fun way to add a bit of holiday spirit while enjoying your silver investment.
Obverse
On the obverse of the Silver Colorized Lighting the Tree Bars, you’ll find the Scottsdale Mint’s official lion emblem. The crowned lions head is surrounded by wreath boughs, while snowflakes of different shapes fall in the background.
Reverse
The reverse side of the 1 oz Silver Colorized Lighting the Tree Bar showcases a beautifully lit Christmas tree. Set outdoors, the tree is wrapped in glowing red lights, with the stunning Northern Lights filling the sky in the background.
History
The transition to safer Christmas tree lighting began in 1882 when Edward H. Johnson, a close friend of Thomas Edison, used 80 hand-wired red, white, and blue bulbs to decorate his tree. Christmas lights didnt become widely available until 1890, and it took many years for them to become affordable to most people. By the 1930s, with more homes having electricity, Christmas lights became more accessible and widely used.
