The New Orleans Pelicans franchise was founded in 1988 as the Charlotte Hornets and relocated to New Orleans in 2002. In 2013, the team rebranded as the Pelicans, creating an identity that celebrates Louisianas state bird and regional pride. Following Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the team temporarily split its home games between New Orleans and Oklahoma City, symbolizing the strength and perseverance of its community. Obverse
The obverse of the Silver Colorized NBA New Orleans Pelicans Round features the teams logoa pelican in flight with its wings spread and beak open, expressing determination and strength. Inscriptions include NEW ORLEANS PELICANS and EST. 2013.
Reverse
The reverse of the 1 oz Silver Colorized New Orleans Pelicans Round shows the NBA logo, depicting a basketball player dribbling inside a rectangular field. This timeless symbol has represented the leagues image for more than fifty years. History
The Pelicans have appeared in the postseason eight times and won one division title. Their most successful season came in 2008 when they reached the second round of the playoffs, led by star point guard Chris Paul.
