The Philadelphia 76ers franchise was originally founded in 1946 as the Syracuse Nationals, a charter member of the National Basketball League. The team joined the NBA after the merger with the Basketball Association of America and won the 1955 championship while still in Syracuse. In 1963, the franchise relocated to Philadelphia, where it was renamed the 76ers in tribute to the nations founding in 1776. Obverse
The obverse of the Silver Colorized NBA Philadelphia 76ers Round displays the franchises patriotic logo. The design depicts the number 76 within a basketball, with thirteen stars arranged in a circle above the number seven. Rendered in vivid red, white, and blue, the design connects to Philadelphias deep historic roots. The inscriptions include PHILADELPHIA 76ERS and FOUNDED 1946.
Reverse
On the reverse of the 1 oz Silver Colorized Philadelphia 76ers Round, the NBA logo is shown featuring the silhouette of a basketball player dribbling inside a rectangular frame. History
The 76ers have captured three NBA championships, most recently in 1983. The 1967 championship team, led by Wilt Chamberlain, and the 1983 team, featuring Julius Erving and Moses Malone, each represent legendary moments in franchise history.
