About General A.P. Hill
Ambrose Powell Hill, Jr. (b. 1825-1865) served 18 years with the United States and Confederate Armies. He was an officer for the U.S. during the Mexican-American and Seminole Wars and a Confederate general throughout the Civil War.
He earned recognition during his command of the “Light Division” through the Seven Day Battles and was one of Stonewall Jackson’s trusted subordinates. General Hill died during the Third Battle of Petersburg when the Union Army attacked toward the end of the war.
