The Type 1 design of the Silver Deuce Four Skulls rounds feature the Marvel Comics anti-hero The Punisher, who first appeared in comic books in 1974. The character is inspired by a Force Recon Marine veteran of the Vietnam War. He wore a white skull and an all-black outfit, while dispensing his own form of justice. The bone-white appearance was the last thing The Punishers victims would see before they were meet with justice.

Obverse

The obverse of the 1 oz Silver Deuce Four Skull Round (Type I) is the well-known skull, representing the men of the Continental Army of the Revolutionary War. In the center, the Roman numeral III references the belief that three percent of the colonial population contributed to the Continental army. Surrounding the Roman numeral is a circle of 13 stars representing the original U.S. colonies. The outer design of the obverse includes three bullet points on either side of the skull. We Are Everywhere, Expect Us is split across the top and bottom rockers of the design field.

Reverse

On the reverse of these rounds, you will find the Intaglio Minto logo, which is included on every round from the Deuce Four Skull series. An I in the shape of a Romanesque column falls in the center of the design field. A radial sunburst and stippled background take up the background. You will find the rounds weight, purity, and metal content around the outer rim.

History

Deuce Four refers to the 24^th Infantry of the United States Army that was active from 1869 to 1951 and returned in 1995 in Afghanistan and Iraq. The soldiers would mark buildings where the units engaged enemy forces with the Deuce Four Skull. This series is created by the Intaglio Mint, which is a privately held operation that was established in 2010.
