The Kraken is one of the most feared mythical creatures in the world. Part of this fear lies in the fact that mankind doesnt really know much about life under within the deep, dark ocean. The Kraken is a sea monster that preyed on ships and the sailors within. Right now, you can purchase the 1 oz Silver Kraken Round from Provident Metals in brand-new condition.
Anonymous Mints artist Julie Lindquist creating the stunning Kraken design for these unique silver rounds. Surprisingly, the Kraken is brought to life in amazing fashion on the obverse face of these rounds.
The Kraken is often associated with pirates from Caribbean islands, but the beast was originally founded in Viking lore. The strong, powerful Vikings were afraid of the might Kraken that was said to live in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean between Norway and Greenland.
The obverse image is that of a ship being overtaken by a massive Kraken. This Viking longboat is snapped in half by the Kraken, as sailors fall overboard into the deep water.
On the reverse side of each round, you will see a design mimicking that of the heraldic eagle. Since the owl is part of Anonymous Mints logo, it is used in this image. The bird represents intelligence, mystery, wisdom, and more. In this image, the owl is shown with wide-spread wings, much like the bald eagle is on American coinage. There are arrows in the owls talons, as well as 13 stars around its head.
The Anonymous Mint brought this imagery by Julie Lindquist to life on the 1 oz Silver Kraken Rounds. This mint was founded in 2014 in Pennsylvania. Much like their name suggests, this mint is fairly hard to find information about.
