On the obverse side of Silver Nordic Creatures Great Eagle Rounds is a depiction of the Great Eagle. The noblest of the mighty creatures from Norse mythology, the Great Eagle resides in the uppermost canopy of the World Tree. From here, it watches out over the world with the help of a hawk known as Vedfolner, which can be seen perched between the eyes of the eagle. The Great Eagle is also aided by the squirrel known as Ratatosk, whose job is to deliver messages up and down the tree between the Great Eagle and Nidhogger, the dragon residing in the underworld beneath the roots of the tree.

Reverse

The reverse face of the 1 oz Silver Great Eagle Round comes with the common design element of the series. In this design, you will find The World Tree. Also known as Yggdrasil, the tree features on all rounds in the series and is an immense ash tree with branches and roots extending throughout the Norse world.

The Nordic Creatures Series from the Anonymous Mint features a total of five individual obverse designs. These designs were sculpted for the coining process by Italian master sculptor Luigi Badia and created by Howard David Johnson. The series offers both 1 oz copper and 1 oz silver rounds.
